We have been retained exclusively to source a Commercial Manager (Civil), to oversee Commercial and Contractual objectives across Civil Construction projects.
The Organisation
Currently identified as a key provider and a trusted, national contractor, this principal contractor has secured multiple government / defence projects providing a period of “ongoing” project opportunities that will see them project active for some time.
For over forty years now, they have successfully delivered projects across the Civil infrastructure landscape traditionally partnering with various government agencies.
One of the organisation’s “core strengths” identifies them as being regarded for fair, honest and straightforward contractor. It’s widely known that clients can rely on the commitments they make and the manner in which they conduct themselves.
Key Deliverables
Your day-to-day tasks will vary significantly, however, key deliverables will remain consistent and will include the following;
- Commercial risk management and direction of head contract and subcontract packages
- Overseeing Contract Administration of multiple projects, the head contract and subcontract packages, and all other project procurements.
- Maximisation of project value recovery, cost control and cash management
- Responsible for all project contract issues including subcontract letting, variations, progress claims and contract correspondence
- Budget and forecast cost management and reporting.
- Project negotiation with clients, contractors, legal advisors and company management.
- Management and mentoring of project contract administration staff, contract administrators and building graduates
- Stay abreast of Corporate, Legislative and Statutory requirements applicable to your role
Capabilities & Experience
This is a challenging and rewarding role where you'll rely on your previous leadership experience to deliver on commercial and financial requirements. Your experience in the principal contracting space will demonstrate your competency in financial management, forecasting, and procurement.
To be considered you must be able to demonstrate/possess the following;
- Q.S - Construction Management / Engineering qualification
- 10+ years post-graduate experience within a Principal Contractor environment.
- Experience in managing commercial responsibilities across multiple projects concurrently.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Suite).
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate performance objectives for staff.
- A well-developed “commercial acumen” derived from demonstratable, critical project dealings.
- Australian citizen with the ability to secure government security clearance.
